| Faster Broadband for Broughton? |
|
Many in Broughton could benefit from HCC's plans to provide faster broadband in those communities that register an interest. But you must vote to have a chance of getting it! Communities in Hampshire are encouraged to register their support and those areas that register strong demand for faster broadband are likely to be included in the earlier stages of the phased rollout programme. What this means in practice is that if we get faster speeds in Broughton not only will websites and email downloads happen faster for you, but streaming of such services as BBC i-Player will also noticeably improve and no longer will you have to sit waiting when the picture freezes because our exchange cannot download data fast enough. But for this to happen, we must be very active in registering our interest in faster Broadband for Broughton (please note, registering demand does not commit you to sign up to any new service). In order to do this, please go to the following HCC website (click on the link) https://www3.hants.gov.uk/broadband/broadband-signup.htm and fill in the form online to have your vote counted for getting our exchange upgraded as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can call 01329 225398 and register your vote by phone. The consequences of not doing this are that we shall not be included in early upgrade plans and we could suffer several more years of slow download speeds. Other surrounding villages are registering for their communities so please don't lose this opportunity and register now while it is still fresh in your mind ! GRAHAM C0WLEY (301502)
