PARISH COUNCIL REPORT - April 2012

School Lane Parking

Hampshire County Council plan to widen and kerb the stretch of road next to the school footpath along School Lane, and also repair the verge where it has been overrun by lorries a bit further up. It is their intention to do this work during the Easter holidays. The council will be suggesting that some pinch points be included in the scheme, but if not possible to ask that the work goes ahead anyway.

Playground / Skatepark

Dog fouling is reported to be a problem in the children’s playground again. Dogs are permitted to walk around the edge of Fripps Acre on a lead, but the area is not intended to be for exercising dogs in general. The Dog Warden has been contacted, and some laminated signs are to be erected with the Dog Warden’s details on.

Noticeboard

A third council notice board is to be placed on the verge outside of the surgery.

Rookery Lane

Southern Water have inspected the damage reported in Rookery Lane, and do not feel entirely responsible due to the number of other lorries using the lane and will therefore not be taking responsibility for the damage. The council will be meeting with Hampshire County Council to discuss the repair work needed along Rookery Lane before it commences in July.

Annual Parish Meeting Your Annual Parish Meeting of the council is to be held on the 17th April at 7.30pm. Please come along and share your views. The Chairman will give his annual report, and updates will be provided by the Police, the School Headmaster, the Dowse Trust and Councillors Boulton and Gibson.
