PARISH COUNCIL REPORT - March 2012 Hampshire County Council has agreed to resurface Rookery Lane and restore the verges following completion of the developments taking place at the moment. We have given a date of July 2012 as an anticipated date for work to be completed. In addition, some passing places will be included to avoid damage in the future. The council understand that Hampshire County Council will do this work once only, and therefore will be seeking to ensure that a condition is placed on future planning applications for developers to use small lorries only on the Lane to avoid any further damage. A tennis court fundraising committee has been formed with a view to raising funds for the purpose of constructing a public tennis court in Broughton to be sited in the North West corner of the sportsfield. A fun day is being organised for the 4th June to celebrate the Queens Jubilee, to be held on the Sportsfield and will include a picnic, some sports and bands for the evening. The parish council have agreed to financially support the growth of the allotments by another 10 additional plots. Dog fouling has been reported at the Village Hall. The area is to become a ‘No Dog’ area in the future as a result. We have now jointly purchased a speed sign with Awbridge Parish Council, which should be seen around the village over the coming weeks. Village Community Grants are welcoming applications from any community associations. If you are looking for funding go to http://www3.hants.gov.uk/grants/ctgrantsvillagecommunity.htm Hampshire is to get £5 million of government funding to bring faster broadband to residents and business.
