| "Thank You" to our Village |
|
The Friends of Broughton School would like to say the most enormous ‘thank you’ to everyone in the village for your continued support in fundraising for our new building. We have asked a lot of our community over a short period of time, but as you can see from School Lane, the Broughton Foundation Education Building is nearly here to stay! At the beginning of 2008 the BFEB Financial Plan was presented to FOBS. Most of the capital for the building would be raised from a combination of sources: School, Hampshire County Council, Grants and personal donations. We were asked to try and raise £10,000 towards the total cost of the project; Team-FOBS rose to the challenge. Along the way there have been many events - big and small, much hilarity, probably too much drinking, and possibly too many posters, but most importantly there has been lots of community spirit. There have been so many groups, bands, businesses and individuals who have contributed in lots of ways, we cannot thank you enough and there are too many of you to thank by name in print, but we have personally thanked you all along the way. FOBS are so proud to announce that with your help we have exceeded our initial target by raising approximately £20,000; together, with the generous donations received from the community we have been able to donate in excess of £40,000 towards the new building. Please give yourselves the biggest pat on the back! We are so grateful for your support. This substantial amount has helped the project to begin. I would also like to take this opportunity to personally thank my Team - Paula Wilson, Nicole Harrigan and Diana Rusby. They have worked so hard, with such energy and creative vision, cleaned up at the end of events, and then counted so many coins in the pursuit of our goal, always with a great sense of fun. Thank you ladies. The current Team-FOBS will gracefully step down in September and make way for a new Committee with fresh ideas for the completion of the project and the academic year ahead. Thank you all, for and on behalf of FOBS. KATE HAYNES |
